Full course description

Exercise is known to improve the lives of people with Parkinson’s Disease (PD). The purpose of this program is to give movement specialists a knowledge base that they can apply to their specialty, thus providing safe and effective exercise interventions to people with PD (PwPD). Through discussion of practical guidelines and the underlying neurophysiological basis of PD, we will empower movement specialists to create customized, evidence-based exercise programs that safely challenge PwPD.

Teachers College is collaborating with Parkinson’s Body and Mind, Inc (PBM) to offer this certificate program. This program consists of 5 modules of pre-recorded talks. Participants will also be offered individual sessions with one of our faculty instructors to discuss their specific interests and questions. This course will enable professionals to learn the latest in evidence in exercise and physical activity for people with PD.
